How to DaVinci Resolve 17 completely free?

Hey, guys welcome to another DaVinci resolve video and in this video, I'm going to be going over the differences between the free version and the studio version of DaVinci resolve 17. I've had a few people ask me what are the differences between the two versions and is worth upgrading to the studio version before I talk about the differences

Between the free and the studio version if you are new to my Website don't forget to hit the follow and click the notification bell to stay notified for my next Articles and also follow my social media accounts to see some of the behind the scenes of projects that I'm working on DaVinci resolve 17 is a complete post-production software you can do advanced editing

Visual effects motion graphics color correction and color grading you can also do advanced sound design and mixing and export high-quality resolutions in multiple types of video formats and codecs now the first difference between the free and the studio version is of course the price of the studio version costs around 420 Australian dollars and has a lifetime license so once you have the license

You can keep up to date with all the latest updates you can also get an activation key from products you buy from Blackmagic I purchased the Blackmagic pocket cinema camera 4k or the BMP cc 4k for short and it came with the resolve studio activation key I have been using the studio version since resolve 15 and can still use my license for Davinci resolve 17.

I believe you can also get an activation key with the new resolve speed editor keyboard which I'll be looking to get at some points in the new DaVinci resolve 17 updates they've added a previously studio only version feature inside of the free version you can now use the multi-user collaboration tools which means you can now collaborate with other

Artists, so you can have a team of people working on different aspects of post-production at the same time I think this feature is a great addition to the free version because since a lot of people these days are working from home it will make this software much more popular and accessible to new editors making online content for their businesses and just people wanting to collaborate

With other artists on projects, another difference in the free version is an ultra HD resolution limit for video export inside of DaVinci resolve 17 but you can still work with 6k and 8k video files you also can't export a frame rate higher than 60 frames per second which honestly most of the time you won't really be going above 60 frames per

Second anyway with the ultra HD limit in the free version, it's not really a deal-breaker for most usually when I export client videos they usually want me to just deliver it in full HD 1080p the studio version has a high resolution up to 32k and up to 120 frames per second for video deliveries which helps future-proof your projects but most of the time

With the work that I do viewers will most likely be watching it on full HD monitors full HD tv screens or even mobile phones and tablets that are also another thing to consider when you are wanting to upgrade most of the cameras don't even shoot 12k just yet so 32k resolution exports are just a little bit over the top in the studio version you also get

Support for multiple GPUs so you can get smoother playback of 10-bit footage and accelerated h.264 and h.265 decoding and encoding a fairly new feature inside of DaVinci resolve 17 is the DaVinci neural engine which uses artificial intelligence it was first introduced in Davinci resolve 16 studio and has had some major improvements inside of DaVinci resolve 17 studio

With new features, the DaVinci neural engine is only in the studio version so you won't be able to use what it has to offer in the free version so you won't have access to facial recognition the new smart reframe object removal auto color super scale and speed wall pre-timing which I'll be going over how to use these features in future tutorials there are also some plugins that you won't be able to use in the free version

But a lot of those are what I like to refer to as fix it in post kind of plug-ins like noise reduction d-flicker automatic dirt removal d-banding chromatic aberration removal which I actually made a tutorial on how to do here uh without the studio plug-in and also some other stylized plug-ins if you are not sure what you can use you can

Still preview all of these studio plugins in the free version but it will have a watermark which I think is a great idea instead of just leaving the studio plugins out because you can see if a certain plugin will work with your footage to see if you want or need to upgrade to the studio version I'm pretty sure I've covered most of the differences between the free

And the paid version of resolve now is it worth upgrading to the studio version it depends on what you are using it for the free version of DaVinci resolve has more features than most free editing software out there you also have access to advanced color correction and grading tools including the new color warper and hdr tools

You can also export your videos in ultra HD which is incredible that Blackmagic is allowing the users to have that feature in the free editing software on the other hand if you upgrade to the studio version it'll run much smoother without being able to use multiple GPU processes and you get greatly advanced plugins and artificial intelligence features like facial recognition and smart

Reframing can really speed up your editing workflow another reason you should consider the resolve studio upgrade is the lifetime license instead of paying nearly 80 Australian dollars per month on a subscription plan which after five months you would have gotten your money's worth but if you're new to editing in Davinci resolve and don't need the studio

Plug-in features for your edits all you're doing is a simple edit the free version is more than enough I personally think it's worth upgrading to the studio version especially if you have gained some experience editing inside of the free version anyway I hope you found this video helpful in helping you decide if you should upgrade from the free version to resolve studio don't forget to like this
